Robin Spalding

Robin Spalding is an artist and curator currently based at Deptford Quirk, London. He produces exhibitions and artworks which explore traditional stories and esoteric belief systems.

His studio practice focuses on producing pseudo religious relics which try to subtly adapt our understanding of specific myths. These are often altered versions of well known relics, such as the Veil of Veronica and Melchior's gift to Christ.

His curatorial projects involve working with artists that have an interest in supernatural fictions. These can range from myths and fairy tales to science fiction and gothic horror.

Both practices are informed by his research into the social value of storytelling. For him, the artist's role in society is to continue a tradition of myth telling.
